The Bankruptcy Attorney is responsible for handling all bankruptcy matters for the firm.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
You are responsible for working your files and driving your case load for superior service & client results. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Meet with existing clients
- File bankruptcies primarily under chapter 7 and 13 in Northern, Middle, and Southern District of Florida
- File bankruptcies under any other relevant chapter
- Collaborate with Attorneys and support staff regarding procedures utilized in the firm’s bankruptcy practice, including steps in the process, documents, local filing requirements, and judicial tendencies
- Review all bankruptcy filings such as proofs of claim, schedules, petitions, notices of mortgage payment change, and notices of fees and costs
- Draft pleadings, motions, notices, certifications, objections, orders, memoranda, and letters
- Attend hearings, settlement conferences, and mediations
- Keep clients apprised of status and developments in their cases with appropriate communication via e-mail, telephone, and/or client systems
- Promptly review and respond to communications received via phone, e-mail, client systems, from clients, staff, opposing counsel, court staff, trustees, mediators, etc.
- Escalate matters when necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Preparation for weekly meeting with supervising Attorney
- Communicate concisely with client at key stages to ensure effective case management and information to the client
- Abide by firm policy, specifically, but not limited to attendance, PTO, and dress code provisions.
- Conduct oneself as a team player
- Consistently be highly organized
- Consistently be proactive & results oriented
- Timely complete all required administrative tasks including but not limited to:
- Time Billing
- Fully & effectively utilizing the firm’s case management system, in the processing of all your files, including but not limited to placement of all file notes and working tasks in the system
- Utilize all of the firm’s productivity dashboards and reporting to monitor case status & drive workflow
- Demonstrate the highest level of commitment to customer service
- Return clients’ emails and calls in a timely manner
- Must protect the client’s interests when filing for bankruptcy, ensuring the client is fully aware of risks of filing under a specific chapter
Requirements
-Florida Bar
-3-10 years Bankruptcy experience
