Family Immigration Legal Assistant
Remote with Local South Florida Travel
Fort Lauderdale, Florida
A growing family-based immigration practice is seeking an experienced and compassionate Legal Assistant to provide administrative and case support in a primarily remote capacity.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with clients and helping families navigate the immigration process. The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple cases while providing exceptional client service.
Responsibilities
- Provide remote administrative and legal support to the attorney
- Assist with the preparation and organization of family-based immigration petitions and applications, including adjustment of status, family petitions, consular processing, naturalization, removal of conditions, and related matters
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status, required documentation, appointments, and deadlines
- Gather, review, and organize supporting documentation for immigration filings
- Prepare immigration forms, correspondence, and case materials for attorney review
- Maintain case files and track critical filing deadlines and government notices
- Coordinate client consultations, appointments, and follow-up communications
- Monitor emails, calendars, and client communications
- Retrieve and process mail from the Fort Lauderdale office on a regular basis
- Perform occasional local errands and document deliveries throughout Broward and Palm Beach Counties
- Assist with general office administration and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Prior Legal Assistant experience required
- Family-Based Immigration experience strongly preferred
- Experience preparing and organizing USCIS forms and supporting documentation
- Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Creole required
- Excellent client communication and customer service skills
- Strong organizational abilities with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and case management software
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally as needed
Position Details
- Primarily Remote
- Must be available to retrieve mail from the Fort Lauderdale office
- Occasional travel throughout Broward and Palm Beach Counties
