About the Opportunity
A well-established and respected law firm is seeking a Construction Defect Litigation Associate Attorney with 2+ years of experience to join its growing litigation practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to develop their career handling sophisticated construction-related disputes while working alongside experienced litigators in a collaborative environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience representing developers, general contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, property owners, or insurance carriers in construction defect matters and be comfortable managing cases through all phases of litigation.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of construction defect litigation matters from inception through resolution.
- Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda of law, and other litigation-related documents.
- Conduct legal research and prepare case strategy recommendations.
- Handle all phases of discovery, including drafting and responding to written discovery, reviewing document production, and managing e-discovery.
- Take and defend depositions of fact witnesses, experts, and corporate representatives.
- Attend hearings, mediations, inspections, and settlement conferences.
- Work closely with clients, experts, consultants, and opposing counsel throughout the litigation process.
- Assist with trial preparation, including witness preparation, exhibit management, and courtroom support.
- Maintain strong client communication while managing deadlines in a fast-paced practice.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active member in good standing with the Florida Bar.
- 2+ years of construction defect litigation experience.
- Experience handling complex civil litigation matters, including discovery, motion practice, depositions, and court appearances.
- Strong legal research, analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Excellent organizational and case management abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a litigation team.
- Trial preparation experience is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Board Certification in Construction Law by The Florida Bar is highly preferred (or a strong plus).
- Experience representing contractors, developers, design professionals, or insurance carriers in construction-related disputes.
- Experience with expert witness management and large-scale construction litigation is a plus.
