Legal Assistant – Commercial Litigation
A prestigious regional law firm in Downtown Fort Lauderdale is seeking a skilled Litigation Legal Assistant with strong State court litigation experience and solid administrative support skills.
The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and confident managing cases from inception to resolution. Federal court and commercial litigation experience are a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Litigation & Legal Support

Prepare, file, and manage legal documents in State and Federal courts

Manage litigation calendars, deadlines, trial orders, and hearings

Retrieve and analyze court dockets and conduct legal research (Sunbiz, public records)

Schedule depositions, special set hearings, and court reporters

Ensure compliance with court-specific filing requirements (e-filing, e-Courtesy, CMS)
-
Support trial preparation, including document production and exhibit organization
Administrative & Client-Focused Duties

Handle client intake, file opening, and coordination with internal departments (billing, records, conflicts)

Draft, proofread, and process legal correspondence, pleadings, and billing statements
-
Maintain both paper and electronic filing systems, using tools like FileSite, CMS, Adobe Acrobat

Manage time entry, pre-bills, and billing via SmartTime or Aderant (or similar systems)

Answer phones, manage mail, and schedule appointments and internal meetings
Qualifications:

5+ years of law firm experience, including State litigation (Federal experience preferred)

Proven ability to support multiple attorneys in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel), and legal tech tools (FileSite, CMS, Aderant)

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage shifting priorities with professionalism
Schedule & Benefits:

Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (one-hour lunch)

Occasional overtime may be required
